To many golfers, a greenside bunker is truly a nightmare when it takes at least 2 swings to get back to the green. If all you got is sand blasts or struggling shots without escaping the ball, here’s a simple way to beat the bunker demon: WEAKEN YOUR GRIP
You need to learn how to use the bounce on the sole of your sand wedge where the club glides through the sand with little resistance.
Put your left hand on the club and rotate it well to the left, into a very “weak” position. The same goes with your right hand, in order to make the “Vs” formed by the thumb and forefinger on both hands point toward your left shoulder. Afterward, position the ball 1 to 2 inches back of center and make your normal bunker swing. The club will enter the sand a couple of inches behind the ball and exit a couple of inches past it.
Turning your hands to the left to create a “weak” grip will open the clubface at impact, allowing the bounce on your wedge to glide through the sand.

This ultra-weak grip makes the clubface open through impact, exposing the bounce to the sand, letting the club glide under the ball and through the sand, not dig in with the leading edge.
Keep practicing repeatedly this technique and greenside bunkers will never be the struggles of your game!
