Tommy Fleetwood attended the Race to Dubai with much favor when in the season with 24 events, he had gained 2 championships, 3 times in the top 3 and 5 times in the top 10. He only needed as least as a draw to his rival Justin Rose to win the final title. And he did much better!
As accepting the glorious trophy, Fleetwood shared: “My ultimate goal in life is to be the best player in the world”. About his opponent, he also praised that: “I would have preferred it to have been easier but at the same time, it’s been absolutely brilliant going head-to-head and a bit of a dogfight with, in my eyes, one of the greatest players in recent times.”
In the effort keeping up with Tommy, Justin Rose started impressively with 7 front holes, getting 4 birdies, but then had 3 bogeys at hole 12’s bunker, hole 14’s water hazard and a missed 0.6-meter putt to hole 16 on Earth Course of Jumeirah Golf Estates. Finally, Rose ended as the 1st Runner-Up. Despite the disappointment of himself, he delightedly congratulated on his English rival: “Tommy, I’m pleased for him. He’s battled hard all year and put a good week in South Africa and had a great couple of comeback rounds this week to fight back and deserve it. He’s been leading all year and it’s good for him to finish it off”
At the same time, with more comfort standing outside the competing top, Jon Rahm won DP World Tour Championship. Played with calmness, bogey-free with 5 birdies, Rahm finished the game with -19, ranking #4 in the world.
Once again, congratulate the new champions, Tommy Fleetwood on Race to Dubai and Jon Rahm on DP World Tour Championship!
