With a dramatic victory over his British rival Justin Rose, Spanish golfer Sergio Garcia has finally won the title he struggled to pursue during his 21-year career.
In the last competing day, Sergio also encountered many difficulties when repeatedly led by Justin. At the first 5 holes, Garcia’s 3 par lead was quickly erased when Rose scored 3 consecutive birdie at holes 6, 7, 8 and at hole 11, he rose up to the gap of 2. The reason was because Garcia had difficulty struggling with 2 bogey at hole 10 and 11. And the bad luck continued at the drive when the ball fell straight into the bush, forcing him to drop ball again. However he managed to get a par here.

The battle became more intense when Garcia got a birdie at hole 14 and an eagle at hole 15, and afterward a par at hole 17, where Rose got a bogey. At the last hole, hole 18, both golfers got a par and moved to a play-off to determine the winner. Unluckily, Rose tapped in for bogey, and Garcia didn’t miss a chance to make a spectacular birdie putt and win the game.

Sergio Garcia is the 3rd Spanish golfer to win Masters after Jose Maria Olazabal and Seve Ballesteros, both of whom are his idols. To Garcia, this victory seemed to have the deepest meaning, because in 74 times competing in major tournaments, he only got 3 times in the final group and 4 times to be the Runner-up. After many failures, wondering about his ability, from today on, Sergio Garcia will let his Green Jacket speak up for all! He happily shared: “I don’t know if I’ll be the best player to have won only one major, but I can live with that.”
