[NEWS] The R&A Boost Financial Support For Woman’s Golf Development

In the early of 2017, The R&A (The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews) has completed its merger with the Ladies’ Golf Union – LGU. Besides, R&A committed to being more active in financial support to the Ladies European Tour – LET as well as the LET Access Series 2017, contributing to the development and encouragement of this sport for women.

Mr. Duncan Weir – the Executive Director of Golf Development of the R&A, shared that: “The R&A is delighted to be continuing our long-standing support for the LET and LET Access Series.”In facts, the R&A has been funding various LET programs for over 20 years, considerably devoted to the improvement and efficiency of this organization.

According to Mr. Mike Round as the Director of Development of LET, closely working with national federations and event promoters would maximize the impact of this sport to the community. In addition, LET made plans to target some of the R&A’s funding at golf development programs in the countries LET hold events. He said: “We will be looking to work with local and national partners to support coaching and activity programmes that aim to raise the profile of women’s golf and increase participation.”

Regarding the LET Access Series, Director Di Banard stated that this would be a great opportunity for amateurs and emerging young professionals to experience, test and learn from talented golfers on an international level, in order to help them make a advisable decision about their career paths.

Mr. Di Banard spoke: “We are continually looking for ways to improve and grow the Tour and with The R&A’s support we will be able to look at developing a more extensive on-line scoring system that benefits our partners, provides valuable information to players and coaches, and also provide more engaging content for spectators.”
